Hello, my name is Renai Johnny, and I am proud to belong to the Tsilhqot’in (Chilcotin) people. My spirit is deeply intertwined with the magnificent lands of ?Esdilagh (Alexandria) and Tl’etinqox (Anaham), places where my ancestors have thrived for countless generations. The wisdom of my people has been lovingly passed down through my family, and I carry these teachings with me in every aspect of my life. I hold deep respect for the Elders who guide us with their knowledge and experience, and I cherish the strength and resilience of our community. As an educator, I am dedicated to honoring our cultural values and sharing our rich stories with both reverence and pride, ensuring that our heritage continues to flourish

Throughout my life, I have always found joy in the great outdoors, whether engaging in active sports or simply taking a leisurely walk. My family embraces a rich tradition rooted in hunting and fishing, which has been passed down through generations. Each summer, we make it a point to gather for dipnetting, a time-honored method we use to catch salmon. The experience is not just about the thrill of the catch; it’s an opportunity to bond with my loved ones, enjoy the crisp air, and immerse ourselves in nature’s beauty.

While I revel in the stunning landscapes and adventures offered by the great outdoors, I equally cherish the comforting embrace of home. There’s something special about curling up in my favorite armchair with a good book, losing myself in its pages, or savoring a cozy movie night with my family, complete with hearty popcorn and laughter echoing through the living room. These intimate moments spent in our own little sanctuary, where the warmth of togetherness envelops us, bring me as much joy as any adventure outside, creating memories that are just as cherished as those found in nature.

While driving on a back road, I saw a moose.
